Categories may be amalgamated at the discretion of SDI Dance Events to ensure a more competitive and enjoyable experience for all participants.

GENERAL

  • We reserve the right to move a dancer up a category if we feel they have been entered incorrectly.

  • All dancers must have an active SDI annual membership which lasts from September - August and is €10 per year

  • Acro, Stunts and Lifts are only permitted if they are controlled and executed safely.

  • ​Clothing should be age-appropriate street style, suitable footwear must be worn.

  • Teachers must dance in pro categories​

  • ​NO bad language or inappropriate movement for age is permitted in your recorded music or piece - team points will be deducted.

  • ​The decision of the Judges and contest coordinators are FINAL.​

  • ​Attendees included but not limited to dancers, teachers, parents are not permitted to talk to the judges during the event until after final results/end of day

  • We expect all dancers to support each other throughout the event. If you see someone needing a confidence boost – please make it your responsibility to help!

  • Respect is imperative when performances are taking place

  • ​SDI Dance events will not tolerate threatening or aggressive behaviour

  • Dancers and parents should be aware that they should sit in their designated seating area and that they should not block the views of other schools or take other schools seats

  • Seats are designated for spectators, not dancers. Dancers are expected to sit on the floor area or use the practice areas

  • Walkways should be kept clear at all times for safety reasons and to give free access to the floor for dancers

  • Once registered, payment will be required to secure your place at SDI.

  • Deadline to confirm your dancers registration is required no later than 14 days before the SDI event you are attending. 

  • If you need to amend your registration, booking, numbers of dancers & spectators please email  sdistreetdance@gmail.com at least 14 days prior to the event you have booked onto. Any amendments to your booking after the deadline date, your tickets will still need to be paid for in full. However you are more than welcome to sell your tickets to someone else. There is no refund on payment once payment has been recieved by SDI

CREW RULES

  • Crews must have a minimum of 3 dancers to a maximum of 13 dancers

  • Crew times for 6&U and 8&U open are minimum 1 minute and a maximum of 2 minutes 5 seconds

  • ​Crew times for beginner crews are minimum 1 minute 30 seconds and a maximum of 2 minutes 5 seconds

  • ​Crew times for Pro crews are minimum 2 minutes and a maximum of 3 minutes 5 seconds

  • You must email your crew music to sdistreetdance@gmail.com by the deadline dates and bring back up on the day

  • A dancer can compete in more than one crew once they are not in the same category and must be within one school

  • Any props must be handheld and easily cleared after performance

  • ​20% of dancers can be older up to one age category in line with other competitions. We do not encourage this, and schools will have to contact us and we will make a final decision.

  • We reserve the right to move a crew up a category if we feel a crew has been entered incorrectly.

  • A crew must be performing a street style choreographed routine to music of their choice

  • Each school is permitted to enter as many teams as they wish in each division, and each team must be named. (Please do not use the name of your school!). 

  • Acro, Stunts and Lifts are only permitted if they are controlled and executed safely.

  • ​Clothing should be age-appropriate street style, suitable footwear must be worn.

  • Teachers must dance in pro categories

  • ​All dancers in a team must be from the same school. Any evidence of poaching dancers will result in that school concerned being disqualified.

  • ​NO bad language or inappropriate movement for age is permitted in your recorded music or piece - team points will be deducted.

  • ​The decision of the Judges and contest coordinators are FINAL.

  • ​You may collect your score sheets for teams anytime on the day after the results have been announced, score/feedback sheets will be disposed of if uncollected.  An announcement will be made by the compere to collect your score sheets.

  • A copy of the crew scoring sheet and penalty sheet can be sent to teachers

SOLO RULES

  • A dancer can only enter in one solo

  • Music is selected at random by the event DJ

  • ​Clothing should be age-appropriate street style, suitable footwear must be worn.

  • Teachers must dance in pro categories 

  • ​The decision of the Judges and contest coordinators are FINAL.

  • ​Props are NOT allowed and clothing should be appropriate for street dance

DUO RULES

  • A duo must enter in the category of the older dancer

  • A dancer can only enter in one duo

  • Music is selected at random by the event DJ

  • ​Clothing should be age-appropriate street style, suitable footwear must be worn.

  • All dancers in a duo must be from the same school. Any evidence of poaching dancers will result in that school concerned being disqualified.

  • ​The decision of the Judges and contest coordinators are FINAL.

  • ​Props are NOT allowed and clothing should be appropriate for street dance

MEGACREWS/MEGAKIDZ

  • Megacrews & Megakidz must have a minimum of 10 dancers to a maximum of 30 dancers

  • Megacrews is for dancers of all ages 

  • Megakidz is for dancers aged 16 and under 

  • Crew times for Megacrew are minimum 3 minute and a maximum of 5 minutes

  • Crew times for Megakidz are minimum 2 minutes and a maximum of 4 minutes

  • You must email your crew music to sdistreetdance@gmail.com by the deadline dates and bring back up on the day

  • A dancer can compete in more than one crew once they are not in the same category and must be within one school

  • Props are permitted but must be easily cleared after performance

  • A crew must be performing a street style choreographed routine to music of their choice

  • Each school is permitted to enter as many teams as they wish in each division, and each team must be named. (Please do not use the name of your school!).

  • Themed Crews is for dancers of all ages 

  • We would like to see a concept or story. We encourage you to be original and creative with your performance and to engage with the audience.

  • Your choreography should be original and match your concept or story.

  • Crew times for Themed crews are minimum 2 minute and a maximum of 5 minutes

  • You must email your crew music to sdistreetdance@gmail.com by the deadline dates and bring back up on the day

  • A dancer can compete in more than one themed crew but they must be within one school and if they are in more than one we cannot guarantee they will have time in between

  • Props are permitted but must be easily cleared after performance

  • Anything goes - All styles permitted

  • Each school is permitted to enter as many teams as they wish in each division, and each team must be named. (Please do not use the name of your school!). 

  • Acro, Stunts and Lifts are only permitted if they are controlled and executed safely.

  • ​Clothing should be age-appropriate, suitable footwear must be worn.

  • ​All dancers in a team must be from the same school. Any evidence of poaching dancers will result in that school concerned being disqualified.

  • ​NO bad language or inappropriate movement for age is permitted in your recorded music or piece - team points will be deducted.

  • ​The decision of the Judges and contest coordinators are FINAL.
